(Milford)– Milford police and officials with an Omaha zoo removed an unusual critter from a basement Tuesday–a four foot-long alligator.
Police officer Vern Flack says the alligator was being kept in a cage, but it’s against city code to have such an animal in the city. Flack says the owner of the house failed to respond to warnings to remove the alligator, so they intervened.
Flack says the alligator was discovered in a residence at 1203 10th Street August 30th when officers were executing a search warrant during a drug investigation.
Police and zoo officials safely removed the alligator late this morning. It’s getting accustomed to its new surroundings at the Henry Doorly Zoo.
No word if charges will be filed against the owner of the house for keeping the alligator.
