Alliant To Request Electric Rate Hike

November 22, 2014

(Cedar Rapids)– Officials with Alliant Energy say they’ll be requesting another electric rate increase soon. But the company’s Vice President, John Larsen, isn’t saying how much they’ll request. We’ll know that next month when Alliant will file its request with the Iowa Utilities Board.

Officials with Alliant Energy say the increase is needed to recoup costs of upgrading equipment and to pay for a new 400 million dollar generating station.

Alliant’s request for a 9.6 percent rate hike in 2002 was scaled back to 3.2 percent by the Iowa Utilities Board.
