(Madison, Wi.)– Alliant Energy reports a second-quarter loss more than four times larger than last year’s result, citing lower earnings from its domestic utility business and charges related to its Brazilian investments.
The Madison, Wisconsin-based utility says it lost 58.7 million dollars, or 50 cents a share, compared with 13.1 million dollars or 12 cents a share, a year earlier.
The company says quarterly revenue was up to almost 700 million dollars.
Alliant Energy’s public utilities–Interstate Power and Light Company and Wisconsin Power and Light Company, serve about 1.4 million customers in Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota and Wisconsin.
