(Des Moines)– Officials with the Iowa Department of Natural Resources say no beaches in the Iowa Great Lakes have tested high for bacteria in the past week. A week ago, a sign was posted at Crandall’s Beach on the northwest side of Big Spirit Lake advising swimmers to take precautions as that area had tested high for bacteria. Since then, the D-N-R says the levels have dropped significantly and the sign has been removed.
Similar advisories had been posted earlier this summer for the Triboji Beach and Emerson Bay areas on West Lake Okoboji. Those advisories were lifted several weeks ago.
