(Fairmont, Mn.)– The Minnesota State Patrol says alcohol and seat belts not being used are factors in the weekend crash deaths of four young men in southern Minnesota.
A fifth person in the car, a 22-year-old female, was critically injured.
The patrol says a car driven by 24-year-old Terrance John Tierney of Fairmont ran into a semi at an intersection near Welcome. Troopers say an open bottle of alcohol was found in the car and none of the five were wearing seat belts.
Patrol Lt. Eric Roeske says he wonders if the dangers of drinking and driving-and driving without seat belts-will ever be realized by some young people.
The others killed in the crash besides Tierney were 24-year-old Joshua Robert Adams, 21-year-old Luis Alberto Martinez and 23-year-old Jose Teodor Cardoza, all of St. James, Minnesota.
