(Spirit Lake)– The Spirit Lake city council Tuesday approved a request from the city of Okoboji to annex a small parcel of land at the Spirit Lake Airport into the city of Okoboji.
Bob Petersen, who owns land north of the airport, wants to be annexed into the city of Okoboji. Spirit Lake officials refused to sign off on the request in the past, citing concern over the possibility of future development affecting airport operations. The council expressed that concern again Tuesday, but approved Okoboji’s request on the condition restrictions be put in place on any future development in that area.
The council also gave their blessings to any proposal by the county to close Ithaca Avenue for the courthouse project if it’s decided to keep the facility in its present location.
