Aero Race Wheels Receives Venture Award

November 22, 2014

(West Des Moines)– A local company is one of nine recipients of this year’s Iowa Venture Award sponsored by the Iowa Area Development Group…an economic development arm of the state’s rural electric cooperatives.

Aero Race Wheels of Estherville is one of the recipients of this year’s award.

Iowa Venture Awards honor businesses that have made significant contributions in diversifying and developing the state’s economy. Businesses are nominated by rural electric cooperatives. Aero Race Wheels was nominated by Iowa Lakes Electric Cooperative.

Aero Race Wheels occupies a 45-thousand square foot facility in Estherville where it produces more than 400 steel race wheels per day. The company was acquired from the Armstrong Rim and Wheel Company in 1995. Virtually all of NASCAR Winston Cup and Busch Series Teams run on Aero Race Wheels.

Two other northwest Iowa companies have received Venture awards as well this year. They are ALUMA of Bancroft and R. J. Thomas Manufacturing Company of Cherokee.
