(Emmetsburg)– A Spirit Lake man already serving time in the death of his infant son will be spending even more time in prison.
Kory Klaasen was sentenced today to two ten-year sentences for voluntary manslaughter and neglect of a dependent person. The terms are to run back-to-back. They are in addition to a ten-year sentence he’s currently serving for child endangerment.
Klaasen’s son, Kyler, died in 1999 after being in a coma for 17 months.
Klaasen apologized in court today…saying he didn’t mean to intentionally harm his son.
The sentencing was moved from Dickinson to Palo Alto county because that’s where the judge was hearing cases today.
