(Spirit Lake)– With the list of expenditures into various improvements and repairs at Oak Haven Care Facility mounting and more on the horizon, the future of the county-owned facility was discussed once again at Tuesday’s Dickinson County Board of Supervisors meeting.
The issue surrounded a contract proposal to overhaul the facility’s air conditioning and ventilation system. The project itself has a total estimated cost of 348,500-dollars. That’s in addition to a contract the supervisors approved Tuesday to draw up plans and specifications for the project. That comes with a price tag of 31,500-dollars.
Approval of the contract followed an exchange between Supervisor Chairman David Gottsche, who’s in favor of the county maintaining ownership of the facility, and supervisor Paul Johnson, who in the past said he feels the county should look at selling the facility.
The vote to approve the contract to draw up plans and bidding documents on the latest project was four-to-one. Johnson cast the lone no vote.
