Accident East Of Milford Sends Two To Hospital

November 22, 2014

(Milford)– Two people were injured in a two-vehicle mishap Tuesday afternoon east of Milford.

The Iowa State Patrol says vehicles driven by 50-year-old Sharlene Mehan of Terril and 31-year-old Brian Kelly of Lake Park collided at the intersection of county roads M-56 and A-34 east of Milford shortly before 3:30 p.m.

Authorities say Mehan was southbound on M-56 and had slowed for a stop sign when she entered the intersection and collided with the driver’s side of the vehicle driven by Kelly.

Both Mehan and Kelly were taken by ambulance to Lakes Regional Healthcare for treatment of bumps and bruises.

Five thousand dollars in damage was estimated to a 2000 Pontiac driven by Mehan and to a 1997 International straight truck driven by Kelly.

Mehan was charged with failure to yield from a stop sign.

The State Patrol was assisted on the scene by the Milford Police Department, Milford Fire and Rescue, Lakes Regional Healthcare Ambulance and the Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office.
