4th Of July Numbers Down At Dickinson Co. Jail

November 23, 2014

(Spirit Lake)– Authorities say the number of people booked into the Dickinson county jail over the extended Fourth of July holiday weekend was down considerably this year from last.

Sheriff Greg Baloun says 61 people were booked into the jail from Friday through Sunday. Most of those were for public intoxication. That compares with 120 a year ago.

Baloun says the weather may have had something to do with the lower numbers. He says thunderstorms that hit between 1:00 and 2:30 a.m. each morning helped disperse the crowds after the bars in Arnolds Park closed.
