(Hartley)– Minor injuries were reported in a three-vehicle accident late Tuesday afternoon on highway 18 about three miles east of Hartley.
The Iowa State Patrol says vehicles driven by 40-year-old Keith Cook of Spencer and 20-year-old Nancy Phillips of Hartley were eastbound and had properly stopped for a school bus that was unloading students. A third vehicle driven by 17-year-old Austin Facio of Hartley came upon the scene striking the vehicle driven by Cook…pushing it into the one driven by Phillips.
Cook and Phillips were taken by ambulance to the Spencer hospital where they were treated for minor injuries and released. No injuries were reported to Facio, who was charged with failure to yield.
Damage to all three vehicles was estimated at five thousand dollars each.
The collision took place shortly after 4:00 p.m.
The Iowa State Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Clay County Sheriff’s Office and the Everly Fire and Rescue Unit.
