(Spirit Lake)– An accident involving a mini-van and a train late Friday afternoon in Spirit Lake sent three people to the hospital.
Spirit Lake police say 54-year-old Michael Fisher of Spirit Lake was driving a mini-van when he collided with a locomotive on an Iowa Northwestern train on Memphis Avenue near the elevator.
Fisher and two passengers in the vehicle he was driving, 14-year-old Nicole Fisher and 16-year-old Cassie Johnson…all of Spirit Lake…were taken by ambulance to Lakes Regional Healthcare. The extent of their injuries wasn’t known.
About 3,500-dollars in damage was estimated to the mini-van and train.
The mishap took place around 4:20 p.m. Friday.
