178 Tons Of Junk Picked Up In Spirit Lake

November 23, 2014

(Spirit Lake)– If you thought there was a lot of junk set out again for this year’s clean-up days earlier this month in Spirit Lake, you were right. But it wasn’t as much as last year.

City officials say 178 tons…or 89 truckloads of junk…was picked up. That’s down from 245 tons picked up last year.

The city paid 1,250-dollars to it’s recycling hauler to process white and brown goods that were picked up. To offset that cost in the future, the city is thinking about charging a slight fee to get rid of those items.
