(Spirit Lake)– A large drug bust Tuesday evening in Spirit Lake has resulted in charges being filed against ten people.
Spirit Lake police say they executed a search warrant shortly after 6:00 p.m. at an apartment at 514 Lake Street. It resulted in the seizure of marijuana and paraphernalia, along with 11 rifles and shotguns and two handguns.
Jonathon Sweet, Dustin Bentley and Sashya Abbas…all 19 years old and all from Spirit Lake…were charged with possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and keeping a dwelling for the purpose of keeping drugs.
21-year-old Michael Vanvoorst of Milford was charged with possession of marijuana and frequenting a disorderly house; 26-year-old Timothy Christensen, 41-year-old Leonard Pauley and 34-year-old Laverne Sargent all of Spirit Lake were charged with frequenting a disorderly house; a 17-year-old female from Emmetsburg and a 17-year-old male from Spirit Lake were charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and frequenting a disorderly house; and 51-year-old Sandy Carlson of Spirit Lake was charged with a traffic violation in connection with the incident.
Police say two of those arrested…an adult and a juvenile…showed up while the search was going on.
Spirit Lake police were assisted by the Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office and the Arnolds Park Police Department.
