E-LC Schools To Hold Active Intruder Drill

November 02, 2026

(Estherville)– The Estherville-Lincoln Central School District will be holding an active intruder drill this Wednesday, November 4th.

In an email to parents, Superintendent Andrew Armstead says the drill will be part of ongoing safety efforts. He says students will be asked to respond using strategies they have learned through prior ALICE, or alert, lockdown, inform, counter and evacuate training. Armstead says depending on the scenario, that could include evacuation of the middle school and/or high school, and that the Estherville Police Department will assist in the exercise.

Armstead says elementary students at ELC will practice evacuation procedures only, with no simulated intruder being used at that level.
