(Milford)– The Milford Fire Department will hold an open house this Wednesday, October 28th. Firefighter Jason Simpson says the free event will be going on from 5:00 until 7:00 pm that evening…
“While you’re there you’ll be able to see all the different types of firefighting equipment it takes to put out house fires, to cut cars open when you have accidents, and then we’ll also be talking about some, a little bit of the fire prevention topics that were on this year’s theme for the National Fire Prevention Association.”
Simpson says some food will also be available…
“The firefighters will have the grills fired up. We’re serving free hotdogs and chips and to wash that down we’ve got a keg of 1919 Rootbeer and we’ll have ice cream so you can make a float. So yeah, we invite the public to come out, bring the kids with. We’ll have a live fire extinguisher demo so if you’ve never used a fire extinguisher before we’ll light up the demo. It produces real fire and you get to walk up to it and use the extinguisher to put it out, so.”
Simpson adds they’ll also have information available at Wednesday’s event about lock boxes you can put keys in so firefighters don’t have to force entry in the event there’s a fire or some other emergency going on and you’re not home.
