Dickinson County Supervisors Approve Policy Revisions

October 22, 2026

(Spirit Lake)– The Dickinson County Board of Supervisors Tuesday approved some revisions to the county’s personnel policy.

One of the proposed changes drew considerable discussion. It would have allowed employees going out of town for county-related business a $50 stipend for food expenses without having to provide receipts. A motion to approve the change failed on a two to three vote.

At least one supervisor, including some members of the crowd, said doing away with receipts could open the door for the stipends to be spent on other items such as alcohol. Another motion to approve the revision including a requirement for receipts, was approved 5-0.

The supervisors also Tuesday approved policies pertaining to the use of AI by county officials; the disclosure of security-related information and updated safety policies.
