(Spirit Lake)– No details have been released, however KUOO news has learned enforcement officers with the Iowa Department of Natural Resources are investigating a boat crash that took place late Saturday afternoon in the Francis Sites area of East Lake Okoboji.
Photos on social media taken shortly after the crash show a boat actually flipped upside down on a nearby road near the shoreline. Initial reports indicated two people were trapped under the boat and had to be freed by fire and rescue crews. One of the two reportedly sustained serious injuries.
In addition to the DNR, a number of other agencies and first responders were called to the scene.
