(Des Moines)– The Iowa Economic Development Authority announced today (Tuesday) 69 housing projects, including some local ones, will receive a share of $39.84 million in workforce housing tax credits.
Locally, Vision Builders, Inc. of Sioux Center is receiving $144,000 in credits for what’s known as the Lake Park Revitalization project at what is currently a playground near the former Harris-Lake Park elementary school. The Lake Park City Council in May of this year adopted a resolution supporting the project.
Elsewhere in the region, the Graettinger Economic Development Council was awarded $161,700 to support the construction of four single family homes on infill lots. The three-bedroom, two-bathroom homes will be built by Homes for Iowa, a nonprofit that trains prisoners in the building trades. The constructed homes will then be moved to Graettinger.
Also, Shores at Spirit Lake, LLC, was awarded a little more than $92,000 in tax credits for the second phase of a housing project, known as The Shores II.
