(Spirit Lake)– Plans by the Iowa Department of Natural Resources to partially draw down the levels of a lake in Emmet county as part of a water quality restoration project are drawing concern. The draw down on Twelve Mile Lake is currently scheduled to start this fall.
The Dickinson and Emmet County Boards of Supervisors met in a joint session this (Tues.) morning to discuss the matter. The two counties share jurisdiction over a drainage district in that area and are concerned over potential effects on it.
Representatives of the two boards along with the Emmet County Attorney and Assistant Dickinson County Attorney will meet with a lawyer specializing in drainage to discuss getting a legal opinion on the matter.
