(Milford)– No injuries were reported Monday afternoon when a mobile home caught on fire at a campground on the west side of West Lake Okoboji. Milford Fire Chief Jim Carpenter…
“We were called to Emmerson Bay for a motor home on fire. When crews arrived they had a lot of yellow smoke coming out of it. They made an attack on it. Damage was contained to the rear area around where the t.v. kick-out is for watching t.v. on the outside of the camper.”
Carpenter says the camper is likely a total loss. He says an electrical malfunction was the likely cause…
“There was a lot of different things from the solar panel and wiring back that way. We’re not exactly sure what happened, but it was very easily and quickly extinguished.”
He adds they were able to contain it to just the one unit…
“They’re fairly well spaced apart where that area was, where that one was. There wasn’t any damage to anybody else’s campers.”
The Milford Fire Department was on the scene about 45 minutes.
