Spencer Woman Facing 1st Degree Theft Charge In Check Scheme

September 04, 2026

(Milford)– A Spencer woman was arrested earlier this week on a first degree theft charge, a class “C” felony, in a check scheme.

A criminal complaint says the charge against 55-year-old Rosanne Marie Norlin of Spencer stems from a corporation she allegedly created. She’s accused of depositing a check for $485,668 into a corporate account at United Community Bank in Milford. Court documents say the check was affiliated with a business in California, and that she allegedly drained money from the account beginning in late March of this year.

Norlin was arrested by the Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office and was booked into jail on Monday of this week. Online court records indicate she has since been released after posting a $10,000 bond. A preliminary hearing in the case is set for September 11th, 2026 in Dickinson County District Court.
