(Primghar)– A Sheldon woman already in jail is facing an additional charge after allegedly assaulting the O’Brien County Sheriff.
According to a criminal complaint, 25-year-old Fabiola DeLeon Matias was originally arrested on August 10th for domestic abuse…assault; domestic abuse with a weapon and interference with official acts, and was booked into jail.
According to court documents, DeLeon Matias this past Wednesday allegedly became uncooperative with jail staff. The documents say Sheriff Bruce Devereaux and jail staff told DeLeon Matias to go to her cell. She refused to coopeprate and then scratched the sheriff hard enough to draw blood. She also allegedly tried to kick the sheriff and jail staff.
DeLeon Matias now faces and additional charge of assault on persons in certain occupations (assaulting an officer), a class D felony. If convicted on that charge, she could face up to five years in prison. A preliminary hearing is set for August 21st.
