(Ashton)– We have some added details to report in the closure of the post office in Ashton.
As we reported last week, the facility was closed recently due to health and safety concerns with the structure housing the facility. Residents in the mean time need to travel about 7 miles to the post office in Sibley for retail and box services.
Sister station KIWA in Sheldon reports that they’ve been told by a Sibley postal clerk that operations in Ashton will not be returning to the former building, adding temporary arrangements are being made that will allow those with post office boxes to pick up their mail at a centralized location in Ashton.
No date has been announced as to when a new post office might open in Ashton.
