(Arnolds Park)– The Okoboji Foundation is accepting applications for their Youth in Philanthropy program for the upcoming school year. The program involves high school students from Dickinson county. It helps instill upon them the importance of philanthropy in the community and giving back.
Throughout the school year, students meet once a month to learn from local nonprofit and community leaders, participate in service opportunities, develop fundraising and leadership skills, and ultimately help make meaningful investments in organizations serving the Iowa Great Lakes area.
Since 2010, Youth in Philanthropy students have helped raise an incredible
$891,000 to support local nonprofits and community projects throughout the Iowa Great Lakes area. This year, the program is working toward an exciting milestone —
reaching $1 million raised for the community
In addition to gaining hands-on leadership experience, YIP participants earn community service hours, build connections with other student leaders and community members, and have the opportunity to see how philanthropy can create lasting change close to home.
Applications are open to Okoboji, Spirit Lake, Harris-Lake Park high school students and are due September 10, 2026. Students can apply online at:
