(Terril)– The longtime Mayor of Terril has resigned. In a post on her Facebook page, Julie Thiesen says she resigned from the position effective Thursday, July 30th.
In her statement to the residents of Terril, Thiesen says “I have always been up front and honest with you and I just wanted to let you know that it has been an honor serving you and this town on the City Council and as Mayor for many years. I feel that together we were able to accomplish many things, but now I feel it is time for me to step down and give someone else the opportunity to step up to serve the town and community. I have officially resigned as Mayor on July 30th. Thank you for the privilege of serving you.”
The city council will now need to decide whether to appoint someone to fill the vacancy or hold a special election.
