FEMA Announces Disaster Funding

(Washington, D.C.)– The Federal Emergency Management Agency announced Friday it’s releasing additional funds to several northwest Iowa entities severely impacted by flooding in 2024.

Locally, the city of Spencer is getting nearly $212,000 to repair and replace the interior and exterior of buildings and contents. Grand Avenue Community Outreach in Spencer is receiving a little more than $472,000 to repair or replace contents and equipment. Nearly $218,000 is going to the Lyon County Fair Association to repair or replace a race track. Nearly $3.1 million is going to the city of Rock Valley for private property debris removal for nearly 123 residential properties that were highly impacted. The Iowa D.O.T is receiving $1.73 million, also for debris removal operations.

FEMA also announced Friday the Western Iowa Power Administration is receiving $1.46 million for permanent repairs from a blizzard last year.
