Semi Crashes Into Corn Field In O’Brien County

July 17, 2026

(Sanborn)–– A Hospers man was taken to the hospital after losing control of a semi he was driving.

The Iowa State Patrol says 20-year-old Jayson Stamer of Hospers was driving a 2005 Freightliner semi westbound on Highway 18, just west of Highway 59 South, less than a mile east of Sanborn, when it is thought that he experienced a medical issue. The semi left the road and came to a stop in a corn field.

Stamer was taken by ambulance to the Sheldon hospital.

The mishap took place a little before 11:30 am Wednesday.
