“Sister Act” Hits The Stage This Week At OST

July 06, 2026

(Okoboji)– A musical hits the stage this week at Okoboji Summer Theatre. The curtain goes up Tuesday evening on “Sister Act”. Bernard Monroe, is the artistic director and choreographer for the production…

“It’s based on the 1992 film starring Whoopi Goldberg and Maggie Smith and it is a wonderful musical. It tells the story of Delores Van Cartier who is a lounge singer who happens to witness her mobster boyfriend murder someone. And the witness protection program decides that the best place to keep her is in the Queen of Angel’s Convent in Philadelphia. And from there all of the madness and fun and music ensues. It’s got a wonderful score. I say it’s Dream Girls by way of Motown with a little gospel in there as well. We have our wonderful and talented performing arts students from Stevens as well as some really terrific guest artists. I think people are going to really, really enjoy it. We have a live band and we also have a really, really wonderful design team on this and I think it will be a hit.”

“Sister Act” runs through July 12th. The Spirit of Harmony Chorus will provide entertainment prior to the show Friday evening July 10th, beginning at 7:30 pm at the OST flower garden.

Tickets for “Sister Act” are available at the OST Box Office.
