(Spirit Lake)– A Spirit Lake man was arrested on multiple drug charges this past Thursday after police caught him trying to flush drugs down a toilet at a residence in Spirit Lake.
A criminal complaint filed by the Spirit Lake Police Department charges 53-year-old Nathan Egdorf with two counts of a controlled substance violation along with one count each of possession of a controlled substance…3rd or subsequent offense; interference with official acts causing bodily injury; and possession of drug paraphernalia.
The complaint accuses Egdorf of possessing what’s believed to be methamphetamine and cocaine with intent to deliver.
It states that police found Egdorf had barricaded himself in a bathroom, and that officers found him trying to flush the drugs down a toilet after they made forcible entry. The complaint states that some methamphetamine was recovered from the toilet and that some of it had already dissolved in some baggies. About 5 grams of a crystal substance was recovered from elsewhere in the residence as well as the toilet along with what’s believed to be hydrocodone. A large amount of cash was also found along with drug paraphernalia, according to the complaint.
It goes on to say that one officer sustained an injury to an ankle while another received a laceration on his arm as they were trying to break down a door.
Egdorf was arrested and was booked into the Dickinson County Jail where he remains held on a $75,300 bond.
Court documents state that Egdorf also had previously been arrested on drug charges in O’Brien and Sioux counties.
