Just A Few Days Remain For Early, In Person Voting For June 2nd Primary

May 28, 2026

(Spirit Lake)– The deadline for early voting in next week’s primary election is quickly approaching.

Jordan Moyer, who oversees elections at the Dickinson County Auditor’s Office, says Monday, June 1st, the day before the election is the last day you can do that. To help accommodate those who have not yet done so and would like to vote early, Moyer says you can stop by the election room at the Dickinson County Courthouse this Saturday, May 30th, anytime between 7:00 am and 3:00 pm.

Moyer says the pace for early voting has been pretty brisk compared to past primaries…

“I think with the contested races it’s been a little bit higher. We actually did just reach 500 absentee in person and by mail. I looked at the last time we had done that, the last primary in ’24 and we hit maybe 400, so we’re above that.”

She attributes that to the contested races on both the local and state levels. And because this is a primary election, Moyer again reminds voters you need to declare a party affiliation…

“Just remember this is narrowing down the field for who’s going forward on the Republican and Democratic side to head to the general election ballot.”

Moyer also reminds everyone you need to have proper identification with you to cast a ballot, if you’re either voting early or on election day itself this coming Tuesday…

“The form of ID you need is your driver’s license and if it does not match your address, if your address does not match your driver’s license, make sure you bring a piece of mail if you are not already registered to vote. If you’re already registered and your address does not match, you do not need to have a piece of mail.”

Polls election day itself will be open from 7:00 am until 8:00 pm.
