(Sheldon)– A Texas man has been arrested on a felony eluding charge after an incident near Sheldon on Wednesday.

The Iowa State Patrol alleges in court documents that 22-year-old Gabriel Ibanez of Elsa, Texas, eluded a trooper while traveling 115 mph in a 65 mph zone, nearly colliding with multiple vehicles. Ibanez was arrested Wednesday and charged with eluding, a class “D” felony.

A search of the vehicle turned up two plastic tubes containing marijuana residue. Ibanez was additionally charged with possession of marijuana along with defective tires, no proof of insurance, reckless driving, speeding, and no valid driver’s license.

A preliminary hearing is set for June 10th.
