(Spirit Lake)– Look for additional law enforcement on the roads over this Memorial Day holiday weekend.
As we reported previously, a special enforcement campaign on seat belt usage is currently underway, however Kevin Krull of the Iowa State Patrol says they’ll be on the lookout for other violations as well…
“It goes right into the impaired driving and then the distracted driving which we’ve talked about quite a bit, and then there’s the excessive speed. All these things come into play for this holiday weekend coming up. With the massive amount of traveling that’s going to be going on, it’s just a good time to practice good, safe, defensive driving.”
Krull adds motorists should also be prepared for some disruptions in their travels…
“I don’t know if you’re aware of this but it’s also construction season. There’s going to be a construction zone somewhere along your travels, I can just about guarantee that. We just want everyone to be safe. Enjoy the weekend, take your time, relax. It will all be fun, it will all be safe if we just take our time and do our part.”
Krull says patience will be the name of the game, especially for those traveling through the lakes corridor.
