(Spirit Lake)– Registration is underway for this year’s U of O Homecoming Races July 18th. This year’s event is once again being put on by the Iowa Great Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce. Morgan Strauss of the Chamber tells KUOO news the earlier you get signed up, the better…
“Yeah, to lock in that low price, register before June 1st. That price will increase. We always encourage early registration, you know, to get our shirt count numbers, medals ordered for certain races, and really just to prepare us here at the office for what we’re going to get ourselves into for that weekend. Register early, lock in that low price, and join us July 18th.”
Strauss says more than $2,000 in cash prizes will go to the top place finishers in the various divisions for the team triathlon, triathlon, half-marathon, 10K and 5K races…
“For our 5K we do welcome strollers and dogos so if you get your running buddy out with we just self-seed those races so join us for a great morning and hopefully the weather is perfect as years past.”
Strauss says the races are a huge draw for the Iowa Great Lakes, bringing in people from across the country. She says this year looks to be no exception to that…
“I think we have 22 states already so we’re hoping that number goes up. As always we like to top our registration from the year before, so help us continue to break a record each year as this event continues to grow.”
Participants will be able to pick up packets Friday, July 17th at the Chamber office in Arnolds Park. A kick off party will be held that evening at West O Beer. You can find more information at okobojichamber.com.
