(Arnolds Park)– A tagged walleye was caught late last week in the extended Walleye Weekend contest. Morgan Strauss of the Iowa Great Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce says they were notified Friday morning after the fish was brought in to Kabel’s Trading Post in Spirit Lake…
“At 9:55 we confirmed that tagged walleye was caught by Kenneth Williams. He is from Cedar Rapids, during our extended contest. And right away Saturday morning we presented him with that check of $5,647.”
Strauss says eight tagged walleyes remain, with two more payouts during the extended contest…
“So the next one is worth 15 percent of registration fees which would total $4,235 and then that third walleye caught would be 10 percent of our registration fees which is $2,823. It’s only for the extended contest fees, and then that goes through August 31st, so you still have all summer to catch one of those two fish.”
Individuals must be registered for the extended contest to be eligible. The registration deadline was 11:50 pm Friday, May 1st.
