OST Gearing Up For 68th Season

May 18, 2026

The truck full of all the magic for the 68th season is ready to be unloaded and Michael Burke, Director of Production at the Okoboji Summer Theatre says the truck will be unloaded on Tuesday and students will arrive in June…

“We’ve got a small team that we’re hiring to come in with five students coming in on June first, and we’ll spend about a week, uh, moving those items from the truck, um, around the property, back to the prop barn to the various locations that we need them. Move all the lighting equipment into the theater. Um, and then everyone, all the student company has to be here by seven p m on the eleventh. We have a company meeting and need to be here by seven. And a lot of things to do around, you know, the campus to get everything ready for the season this year.”

Ruth Ann Burke, Executive Director of the Okoboji Summer Theatre says it takes a lot of help to get ready for a new season…

“It takes a village to at least get this place opened up. So I did want to do a shout out. The folks from Spirit Lake High School are bringing a group over to help us unload, and our volunteer group here, our friends, the Okoboji Summer Theater Association. They’re also going to be helping us on Tuesday.”

Ruth Ann also says they have a great lineup of shows again this year…

“It’s always good to bring things, uh, to this stage that people have not seen before. And almost every single show is one we have not done. And the one that has been done before, we haven’t done in thirty years. So it’s a nice, uh, wide palette of, uh, everything from Johnny Cash and Sister Act to musical revue from the seventies, a classic Our Town, and a couple comedies, and then closing it out with nine to five in August.”

The box office opens on June 15th and you can get more information on the 68th season at okobojisummertheatre.org or boxoffice@okobojisummertheatre.org.
