(Jackson, Mn.)– Results are in on a recently conducted survey in Jackson on recreational opportunities and needs in the community. Luke Ewald helped organize the survey. He says one of the key needs that were identified is a need for additional amenities in the city’s parks and throughout the community…
“Adding more features to the parks beyond maybe just for little kids, right? And then conditions of sidewalks. Across any community sidewalks are always a concern, definitely something to work on. And I know that through the city, they have like a sidewalk policy where you can get some money for that, too. So if you’re looking to do some sidewalk improvements I know they have a policy that goes toward that, so that’s something to look at by contacting city hall.”
He says additional year-round activities is another need identified…
“I know when we did the survey it was kind of towards the end of the winter time, so maybe they were thinking what we could do for winter? I know the school district has offered open gym through Community Ed, so coming up with ways maybe to promote that more or just get more creative with what we can offer indoor maybe at the school for open gym, right?”
Ewald says pedestrian safety improvements and additional activities related to the river were also identified as opportunities.
In addition to Jackson residents, Ewald says visitors also contributed information to the survey.
