Early Voting Underway For June 2nd Primary Election

May 15, 2026

(Spirit Lake)– Early voting in Iowa for the June 2nd primary election got underway Wednesday of this week and runs through June 1st. Jordan Moyer who oversees elections with the Dickinson County Auditor’s Office says they’ve been seeing a pretty good interest so far…

“So we’ve had, I don’t want to say quite a few mail in ballots, but we have voted between in office and by mail a little over 200.”

And for those wishing to request a ballot be mailed to them, Moyer says the deadline for making that is quickly approaching…

“Just a reminder to people, you can request one 75 days in advance, but Monday, which is 15 days before the election, is the last day that we can mail out those ballots.”

She also has some reminders planning to vote early in person…

“So I know we’ve kind of gone back and forth with between voting in the supervisors room and our election room, so for the primary we do have our election room open since it is a little bit of a smaller election. We have a table outside that has the absentee request forms. You fill that out and bring your driver’s license and we’ll make sure we verify that the address is correct on there and we’ll get you the correct ballot. If you’re unaware of what precinct or district you’re in, we’ll gladly tell you, otherwise you can check on our website. You can also change your political party affiliation when you fill out that absentee request form if you do choose to vote either change your party from Republican to Democrat or vice versa, or if you’re listed as a no party, you can change at the time of absentee voting.”

Those planning to vote on June 2nd and are unsure of their polling site can find that information at the Dickinson County Auditor’s website. Moyer adds that voters in precincts in Arnolds Park and Okoboji will once again vote in the June 2nd primary at the Dickinson County Expo Building, similar to the city and school elections this past November.
