“Make It Ok Walk” Is Thursday, May 14th In Spencer

May 11, 2026

(Spencer)– May is Mental Health Awareness Month. Dawn Dahm of Community Health Center of Spencer says they’re teaming up with Spencer Main Street for a special event later this week to help raise awareness…

“It’s a community campaign to reduce stigma and starting conversations and increasing understanding about mental health and mental illness.”

Dahm says the “Make It OK Walk” will be held this Thursday, May 14th, in Spencer beginning at 12 Noon…

“The walk is going to start at the corner of Grand and West 7th Street at 12 o’clock. We encourage people to wear green and we are going to take a walk through main street.”

She adds pre-registration isn’t necessary…

“They can just show up at the corner there of Grand and West 7th if they would get there about 11:45. The walk is scheduled to start about noon. We encourage people that are unable to join us for the walk to wear green at their work place and share on social media about Mental Health Awareness Month.”

Thursday’s walk will conclude at Community Health Center in Spencer. Dahm says individuals, families and organizations are welcome to participate.
