Cherokee County Crash Claims Life Of One Teen; Injures Multiple Others, One Seriously

(Cherokee)– A single vehicle crash over the weekend in Cherokee county claimed the life of a teen and injured several others.

The Iowa State Patrol says a 16-year-old juvenile male was driving a 2004 Pontiac on a county road when the vehicle left the road, hit a utility pole and came to rest in a ditch.

A driver side rear passenger, a 15-year-old male from Cushing, Iowa, died in the crash. Two other passengers, a 16-year-old male from Cherokee and a 14-year-old from Washta, Iowa, along with the driver, were injured and were transported by ambulance to the Cherokee hospital. One sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to a Sioux Falls hospital.

No names have been released as all involved are juveniles.

The crash took place a little after 2:30 am Saturday. It remains under investigation.
