(Spirit Lake)– The Spirit Lake Fire Department responded to a grass fire late Monday afternoon. Chief Pat Daly…
“We ended up going to 1404 193rd Avenue in Montgomery. We had a grass fire right alongside the bike trail.”
Daly says no structures were threatened. He says they have a good idea on the probable cause…
“There was a trash pile that kind of got away. That’s kind of what we’re looking at.”
Daly says extra caution still needs to be used when doing any open burning…
“Well even though we got all that rain it’s still pretty dry in some of those places and you’ve got all that dead stuff down underneath. It was going pretty good there for a little bit but we knocked her down.”
Firefighters were on the scene about an hour and-a-half.
Firefighters from Terril and Milford were also called out to some small grass fires Monday near the Emmet-Dickinson county line northeast of Terril.
