(Rock Rapids)– Multiple charges have been filed in a single vehicle crash this past Friday near Rock Rapids that injured a Fairmont, Minnesota man.
The Iowa State Patrol says 25-year-old Juan Rubio of Fairmont was driving a 1994 GMC pickup southbound on Lyon County Road K52. An accident report says Rubio admitted he was using his phone and lost control of the vehicle while rounding a curve. The vehicle went into the ditch and rolled.
Rubio was taken to the Rock Rapids hospital.
A further investigation into the crash revealed the vehicle’s license plates were from the previous owner. Rubio stated he had purchased the truck last year. He was charged with use of an electronic communication device, fraudulent use of registration, no driver’s license and failure to maintain control.
