Sioux County Collision Injures Spencer Woman

April 29, 2026

(Hospers)– A Spencer woman was taken to the hospital following a two-vehicle collision Tuesday at the intersection of Highway 60 and 400th Street near Hospers.

Authorities in Sioux county say 87-year-old Mabel Rush of Spencer was driving a 2019 Chevrolet Equinox westbound on 400th Street and 49-year-old Timothy Paulsen of Sheldon was driving a 2008 Ford F150 northbound on Highway 60. Deputies say Rush failed to yield to the pickup and the two collided in the intersection.

Rush was taken to the Orange City hospital with suspected serious injuries. Paulsen wasn’t injured.

The Chevy driven by Rush sustained an estimated $15,000 in damage with about $10,000 in damage estimated to the pickup driven by Paulsen.

Rush was cited for failure to obey a stop sign.

The collision took place around 10:45 am.
