(Spencer)– A tree planting event will be held this week in Spencer in conjunction with Earth Day April 22nd and Arbor Day April 24th.
The tree planting will take place Thursday, April 23rd beginning at 1:00 pm. Volunteers are asked to meet at the Spencer Municipal Golf Course. An urban forester with the Iowa DNR will give information and instructions. The volunteers will then disperse to the various tree planting locations, including the Spencer Municipal Golf Course, Riverview Park south of the Aquatics Center, Riverside Cemetery and Pedersen Park.
The tree planting event is being made possible by a $30,000 grant the city of Spencer received from the Iowa DNR.
