Funds Raised To Benefit Spirit Lake Park Special Olympics

April 09, 2026

(West Okoboji)– As part of its On Us series of monthly fundraising events, West O Beer teamed up with Fareway Stores Spirit Lake to raise $826.20 to benefit Spirit Lake Park Special Olympics and Unified Activities at the first event of the year held Thursday, March 19 at the West Okoboji brewery and pizzeria.

One night per month, every month, On Us shines a spotlight on, and raises money for, Lakes Area nonprofits and initiatives. Each event begins at 6 p.m. and includes a short presentation by the chosen organization with additional materials and information provided throughout the evening. West O Beer’s commitment to donating a portion of the proceeds from that day’s event, bolstered by the marketing support of the Lakes News Shopper, raised $90,500 (and 1,450 toilet paper rolls) for 24 nonprofits and initiatives over the past three years.

The brewery is currently looking for a matching donor for the 2026 season and beyond. Any local businesses or organizations that would like to be a matching donor in 2026 are encouraged to contact West O Beer’s Taproots Director Joe Tiefenthaler at taproots@westobeer.com.
