All area students in 1st through 6th grade who are the ages of 7 to 12 are invited to participate in the Live Healthy Iowa Kids Track Championships. Krista Smith, the Executive Director of the Spirit Lake Chamber of Commerce, discusses the event…
“So this is an event that takes place all over the state. So we’re pretty fortunate here in Dickinson County to host it right at Spirit Lake. So there will be multiple meets going on throughout the month. And then first place advances onto the state meet, which will be in Clear Lake on June thirteenth. So just a cool opportunity for students age seven to twelve to come out and compete in different track races.”
Smith talks about registration…
Registration is open through April 17th. I know it’s a quick turnaround, but with limited track availability, that’s what we’re working with this year. So the registration is out. It can be found at event.iowagames.org and you will find the list of all the participating locations. Spirit Lake is one of them.”
The event is on April 24th. Check in starts at 3:30 and the event will start at 3:45. Any area child ages 7 to 12 can participate and again that website for registration is event.iowagames.org. Winners will advance to the state championships in Clear Lake on June 13th.
