Trial For Man Accused In Okoboji Carjacking Delayed

April 03, 2026

(Spirit Lake)– Trial for one of the suspects charged in a carjacking in October, 2025 in Okoboji is being pushed back. Vaughn Harris was originally scheduled to go on trial before a jury this coming Tuesday, April 7th. However online court documents show that has been re-scheduled for June 2nd.

Harris and another suspect, Jessica Nordrum, were charged in the incident that took place in the parking lot at Lake Okoboji Resort. The two are accused of forcing a pregnant woman out of a vehicle and commandeering it, partially running over the woman in the process.

Nordrum has since pled guilty to some of the charges against her as part of a plea deal and was turned over to Minnesota authorities on conditional release. She’s scheduled to be sentenced April 13th in Dickinson County District Court.

Harris has pleaded not guilty to charges of robbery in the 1st degree, willful injury causing serious injury, operating a vehicle without the owner’s consent, assault with a dangerous weapon and theft in the 1st degree. He remains in the Dickinson County Jail on a $100,000 bond.
