The Humane Society of Northwest Iowa is now collecting gently worn, used or even new shoes for their annual shoe drive fundraiser. Skye Larson, Vice President of the Humane Society of NW IA, talks about how it all works…
“Our organization will earn funds based on the total weight and pairs of gently worn, used and new shoes collected as funds to orgs will issue a check for our collected shoes. That money will benefit the Humane Society and any repairs and whatnot that we need to do to the Humane Society.”
Not only is the Humane Society able to raise money to help their cause, funds2orgs, the organization they work with, then sends the shoes to families in developing countries who sell them in their small businesses in order to provide for their families. One entrepreneur in Haiti earned enough to send her son to law school. Shoes can be gently worn, used or new and can be dropped off at the HSNWIA, Midwest Companies in Spirit Lake, Indian Motorcycle in Spirit Lake, Copper Dog Realty on Hill Avenue and Rax Billiards & Lounge in Milford.
