(Storm Lake)– A Fort Dodge man faces multiple felony charges after investigators linked him to a series of fraudulent purchases at Bomgaars stores across Iowa—including one in Storm Lake.
The case began January 8th when Storm Lake police were notified that several Bomgaars stores had reported thefts dating back to early December. According to investigators, 40 year old Duke Davis is accused of walking into five Bomgaars locations in central and northwest Iowa and charging merchandise to a former employer’s account. Police allege Davis forged another employee’s signature during each transaction, allowing him to walk away with more than $7,300 in merchandise without authorization.
After identifying Davis as the suspect, Storm Lake police applied for arrest warrants. On March 23, Davis was transferred from the Webster County Jail to the Buena Vista County Jail, where he was booked on felony charges of ongoing criminal conduct, forgery, and second-degree theft. Davis is being held on a $32,000 bond.
